162 Days in the East
Health

In the beginning of June we went to the travelclinic in Rotterdam for information about the vaccinations we needed to get.
The doctor advised us to get the following:

  • Diphtheria/tetanus/polia (DTP)
  • Typhoid
  • Hepatitis A

Fortunately for us we already had most of it, we only needed to get the second boost of Hepatitis A.
A vaccination for Hepatitis B wasn't neccesary because we carry our own needles and stuff, needed for stitches and so on. She also advised us to get a rabies vaccination but she mentioned that a wooden stick to keep an animal away will also do the trick :-) And it's much cheaper too!
Yemen and Oman are known as malaria area, so we will need medication for that too (paludrine). She also advised us to do a test for tuberculosis to see if we have had contact with it in the past. And of course: first see a dentist, before going on a long trip!!
