162 Days in the East
29July2000

The Netherlands : De Lucht Restaurants in Geffen

29 july 2000
Our big BBQ party: "Let's grill some camels". Ehhhh actually, it looked more like fish and beef, but nonetheless it was delicious!.

On july the 29th we had our BBQ party in Wegrestaurant de Lucht Geffen to say goodbye to our family, friends and colleagues.
We had a great time and we where overwhelmed and touched by the kindness and sweetness of everybody.
A strange thing, at that very moment we realized that we are going away for half a year. Before that we were just very busy with preparing the trip, with trying to finish important things at work etc, etc. And now, the moment we've waited for almost a year, is finally there. Realizing that made us feel excited, but at the same time, seeing everybody we love, made us feel sad.
For the next half year we're going to see interesting places, meet people and enjoy ourselves to the max, but I know we're going to miss home and the people we love.

The three days after the BBQ we where still incredibly busy; packing the camper sure was time consuming, distributing weight, gathering all those tiny things we collected the past 8 months. So much to forget ;-) The last night home we spend sleeping in the camper on our drive-way, it feels strange that this will be our home for the coming months.
Trip planning also started, figuring out which ferry to take from Venice, Ancona, Bari or Brindisi in Italy. Ancona seemed the best option and we'll plan to fetch either a
cruise with Minoan Lines or SuperFast. If the ships in Ancona are packed we'll try Bari and Brindisi. We'll see, we're not in a hurry :-) Our next update will probably be from somewhere in Greece on our way to Turkey. See you then!
