Iran's fuel quota system
Tuesday, 02 October 2007
From June 2007 the Iranian government has implemented a fuel quota system throughout the country. For travellers with their own transportation there are a few changes. Here you find a few practical bits of info about the fuel quota system we picked up from other travellers and contacts inside Iran. The info is gathered during the 2nd half of 2007 – where we’ve heard rumours we added it here as such.

A stay on Crank's ridge in Almora - Uttarakhand (Uttaranchal)
Saturday, 15 September 2007
Parked at the construction site of Imperial Heights at Binsar road in Almora we waited for  the 2007 monsoon to retreat. We explored the surroundings and learned a few things about live on Crank’s ridge – or Hippie hill – and the nearby town Almora. This place is pretty laid back however that might change in the future with the rise of local tourism from Delhi and outside. In the meanwhile we lived at Imperial Heights – a future 1st class resort in the making with a magnificent view on the valley north of Almora.

The road to Almora - Uttaranchal - India
Thursday, 06 September 2007
After a relaxing stay in Champawat we hit the road for Almora in Uttaranchal (Uttarakhand). This Indian hill station is known as a place where many travellers / foreigners stay during the monsoon. At least somewhat bigger than Champawat and probably with a few more (shopping) facilities. The road to Almora was quite eventful to say the least. It’s only a 120 Km stretch but in this region you’re pretty fast if you can reach an average of 20 Km/hour. Being here with a truck in the monsoon brings about a whole new unprecedented dimension to our trip!

There is no time-line, you’ll find a mix of stories from Iran, Pakistan, India and Nepal. This is the first episode with 4 short stories. Read on!
In India again :: Champawat times
Sunday, 12 August 2007
Champawat is a hill station and a district in the Indian state of Uttaranchal. The village is located about 80 Km north of Bambassa, the most western border village with Nepal.
At 1600 meters the grip of the monsoon is less than in the flatlands making a stay pretty comfortable compared to the sticky 90+ % monsoon humidity. Coming from Nepal we parked our truck in the garden of Hotel Akashdeep and spend some time in this area.
