For a mobile home nowadays it’s a must to have a solar power system. It’s free electricity at locations where there is none – although the initial investment is quite significant. An important part of the solar power system is the solar power regulator. It chargers the battery with solar electricity. There are many on the market – we use the STECA PR 2020 Regulator for Photovoltaic systems. It does it’s job well although it has a somewhat peculiar behavior.

We’ve been travelling with a Kipor Sinemaster KGE 2000 Ti for almost 2 years now. It’s a Chinese build generator rated at 1600 Watts using a 220 volts digitally simulated Sine wave. Although it still works when we need it, getting it to work wasn’t always such happy experience. Based on the many times and circumstances we used the Kipor Sinemaster KGE 2000 Ti, to our opinion it’s absolutely essential to have some knowledge of it’s internals. The news of the world cheapest car – The Indian Tata Nano – is undoubted a major accomplishment for the Indian car industry. Having travelled the Indian roads with a truck the same news from a travellers viewpoint brings about several mixed feelings. India is a densely populated country with a road network hardly coping with the sudden modernity of traffic. The news of a million new Tata Nano’s flooding the Indian streets every year comes with a feeling of shivers up our spines.

In January 2008 we crossed the street of Hormuz for the UAE with our truck with the shipping company Valfajre.  This Iranian ferry service is the only connection for passengers with vehicles between Bandar Abbas in Iran and Sharjah in the UAE. This state owned Roll-on Roll-off ferry service has a monopoly status – it’s not cheap and the process of getting in the UAE has several pitfalls. Here you find our story.
